Gaza: The Palestinian Ministry of Health in Gaza announced Friday that hospitals in the Gaza Strip recorded three new deaths due to famine and malnutrition over the past 24 hours.
According to Qatar News Agency, the ministry said in a statement that the total number of famine victims has risen to 162, including approximately 92 children, stressing the worsening humanitarian crisis in the Strip due to the blockade and shortages of food and medical supplies. It renewed its call for immediate and urgent intervention by the international community and relief organizations, noting the presence of thousands of cases of malnutrition, many of whom are threatened by famine.
Earlier, the world's leading food security monitor considered that the worst-case famine scenario is now occurring in besieged and devastated Gaza due to the Israeli war, which has so far killed more than 60,000 civilians. He stressed that the humanitarian crisis has reached a deeply alarming and deadly turning point, and that unhindered access to life-saving humanitarian aid is the only way to stop starvation. Failure to act now will lead to widespread death across most of the Gaza Strip.
The Israeli occupation army has closed Gaza's crossings since March 2, preventing the entry of goods and aid, leading to an unprecedented famine in the Strip.
