Kamchatka: The Russian Emergencies Ministry announced Friday that 120 aftershocks were recorded in the past 24 hours, following the earthquake that struck the Kamchatka Peninsula in Russia's Far East three days ago.
According to Qatar News Agency, the ministry stated that residents felt some of these tremors with magnitudes ranging from 2 to 5.0. The statement highlighted that 120 aftershocks ranging in magnitude from 3.5 to 6.7 were recorded over the past 24 hours, while tremors ranging in magnitude from 2 to 5 were recorded in residential areas.
The ministry advised tourists visiting the region to refrain from visiting the Avachinsky volcano due to the risk of earthquakes. It also urged residents and visitors of Kamchatka to avoid approaching active volcanoes for safety reasons.
The recent seismic activity follows last Wednesday's earthquake in Kamchatka, which was the strongest since 1952, measuring 8.7 on the Richter scale.
