Doha: The inaugural edition of Art Basel Qatar is set to launch in Doha in February 2026, establishing a platform to highlight leading exhibitions and artistic talents from the Middle East, North Africa, South Asia, and beyond. The event marks a significant milestone in Qatar's ongoing efforts to bolster its cultural and sports ecosystem.
According to Qatar News Agency, in an exclusive interview, Her Excellency Sheikha Al Mayassa bint Hamad Al-Thani, Chairperson of Qatar Museums, emphasized that the event is founded by three key partners: Art Basel, Qatar Sports Investments (QSI), and QC+, a collective known for its expertise in cultural commerce. Sheikha Al Mayassa reiterated Qatar Museums' commitment to enhancing the cultural and sports ecosystem envisioned by HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, as a means of fostering economic, social, and human development.
Her Excellency highlighted the flourishing cultural landscape, which has enabled the collaboration with Art Basel and its partners to ensure the success of this ambitious project. She expressed her enthusiasm for welcoming Art Basel and reflected on the importance of Art Basel Qatar for both the nation and the region.
Discussing the role of Art Basel Qatar in fostering cultural exchange and global artistic dialogue, Sheikha Al Mayassa noted that it aligns with Qatar's vision of becoming a global creative hub.
