Doha: Qatar SC announced the signing of Brazilian Yann Matheus from Yokohama F. Marinos FC, joining the first team this season. The club made the announcement on its X platform but did not disclose the details of the deal or the length of the contract.
According to Qatar News Agency, Matheus began his career in the youth teams of Brazilian club Palmeiras before joining the first team. He then moved to Yokohama FC in the summer of 2020. During his tenure at Yokohama, he played 132 matches in various competitions, scoring 29 goals and providing 34 assists.
Qatar SC's management has implemented several changes to the squad, including the signing of former Qatar national team coach Marques Lopez and several foreign professionals. These strategic moves are part of the club's efforts to strengthen their lineup and improve their performance in the ongoing season.
Qatar SC made a notable start at the Doha Bank Stars League, securing victories in the first two rounds. The team triumphed over Al Sadd, the title holder, with a 3-2 win, and defeated Al Sailiya with a 2-0 scoreline. With these wins, Qatar SC collected six points, placing them in third position, trailing behind Al Shamal and Al Gharafa on goal difference.
