Osaka: HE Minister of Commerce and Industry Sheikh Faisal bin Thani bin Faisal Al-Thani and HE Chairperson of Qatar Museums Sheikha Al Mayassa Bint Hamad Al-Thani inaugurated Qatar's pavilion at Expo 2025 Osaka, Japan, marking the nation's participation in this global event from April 13 to October 13, 2025.
According to Qatar News Agency, the inauguration was attended by high-level officials, including HE Ambassador of the State of Qatar to Japan and Commissioner-General of the Qatar Pavilion at the Expo Jaber bin Jarallah Al Marri, and HE Deputy Commissioner-General and Chairman of the Preparatory Committee for Qatar's Participation Sheikh Ali bin Alwaleed Al-Thani, among others. The pavilion, themed 'From the Coastline, We Progress,' offers an interactive journey depicting Qatar's transformation from a coastal community to a leader in sustainable development.
Since the Expo's opening, the Qatar Pavilion has attracted approximately 8,000 visitors, highlighting significant interest in Qatar's cultural and innovative showcases. HE Minister Sheikh Faisal emphasized that the Expo theme, 'Designing Future Society for Our Lives,' aligns with Qatar's National Vision 2030, guiding efforts towards sustainability and prosperity.
HE Chairperson Sheikha Al Mayassa noted the historical significance of Qatar's coast in shaping the nation's culture and identity. She expressed pride in sharing Qatar's journey with the international audience at Expo 2025 Osaka and congratulated the design teams, Kengo Kuma and Associates and OMA*AMO.
HE Ambassador Jaber bin Jarallah Al Marri praised the pavilion as a symbol of innovation and unity, reflecting Qatar's commitment to human development and its longstanding relationship with Japan. HE Deputy Commissioner-General Sheikh Ali bin Alwaleed Al-Thani highlighted Qatar's balance between heritage preservation and development, achieved through the National Vision 2030.
The pavilion is divided into "sea" and "land" areas, showcasing Qatar's history and achievements through interactive exhibits. It also includes a section celebrating Qatar-Japan cultural ties, featuring the "friendship charter" and cultural activities. Designed by architect Kengo Kuma, the pavilion embodies cultural harmony through traditional Qatari and Japanese architectural elements.
Qatar's participation in Expo 2025 underscores its dedication to cultural cooperation and innovation, aligning with its vision of balancing authenticity with progress.
