Qatar Hosts Landmark IACA Regional Summer Academy-GCC 2025

Doha: The State of Qatar has hosted the IACA Regional Summer Academy-GCC 2025, organized by the Administrative Control and Transparency Authority (ACTA) in collaboration with the International Anti-Corruption Academy (IACA). The event convened a phalanx of specialists and officials from bodies responsible for protecting integrity and combating corruption in the GCC countries.

According to Qatar News Agency, the programme, which started on Sunday and concluded on Wednesday, was the first-of-its-kind to be convened outside IACA's venues, giving it an extraordinary dimension and an outstanding stature in the record of Gulf and international cooperation in the field of integrity and transparency. It was intended to bolster the participants' capacities by enabling them to exchange knowledge about state-of-the-art international practices such as asset management and confiscation, artificial intelligence in public procurement, digital currencies, and integrity in sport, topics that reflect contemporary transformations in governance and the global fight against corruption.

The convening of this programme came at an exceptional time, as it precedes by one month the Conference of the States Parties (CoSP11) to the United Nations Convention against Corruption (UNCAC), which Qatar is poised to host this December, underscoring its enduring commitment to promoting integrity and transparency and consolidating its leading role in backing global efforts in the fight against corruption.

The programme featured the participation of 16 national Qatari entities, including ACTA, the Public Prosecution, the Ministry of Interior, the Ministry of Justice, the Ministry of Defence, and the State Audit Bureau, reaffirming their keenness to enhance the competence of their personnel in the fields of integrity, transparency, and anti-corruption.

Overall, the programme is expected to help qualify the Qatari and Gulf workforce and imbue them with state-of-the-art knowledge related to digital technologies and artificial intelligence in surveilling corruption and devising preventive methods, thereby boosting the region's standing as a vibrant hub in the path toward corporate advancement and international integrity.
