According to Qatar News Agency, the signing ceremony saw HE Ambassador of the State of Qatar to Japan and the Commissioner-General of Qatar Pavilion, Jaber bin Jarallah Al Marri, representing Qatar. The Japanese delegation included HE Commissioner of the International Horticultural Expo 2027 Koshikawa Kazuhiko and the Secretary General of the Expo, Masato Komura. The event, themed 'Scenery of the Future for Happiness,' is scheduled to take place from March 19 to September 26, 2027, in Yokohama, Japan.

Qatar's participation underscores its dedication to maintaining a significant international role and supporting global exhibitions focused on sustainability and environmental concerns. It also emphasizes Qatar's commitment to tackling global challenges and highlights the strengthening strategic partnership between Qatar and Japan, particularly in sustainable development, cultural exchange, and knowledge sharing.

During the signing ceremony, HE the Ambassador expressed Qatar's commitment to work alongside Japan to ensure the success of Expo 2027 Yokohama and to help achieve its goals of addressing global environmental challenges and promoting sustainable lifestyles for the benefit of future generations.

This development follows the successful hosting of Expo 2023 Doha, which marked the first time the event was held in the Middle East and North Africa region. The expo, running from October 2, 2023, to March 28, 2024, under the theme 'Green Desert, Better Environment,' featured extensive international participation and attracted millions of visitors from Qatar and beyond.

Expo 2027 Yokohama aims to continue the tradition of international cooperation in horticultural exhibitions, building on the successful foundation set by Expo 2023 Doha. At the closing ceremony of the Doha Expo, Expo 2023 Secretary General Dr. Fayqa Ashkanani officially transferred the expo flag to Deputy Secretary-General of the Japan Association for the International Horticultural Expo 2027 Hayami Sato.
