Palestinian President Discusses Political Developments in Palestine with French Assembly President

Paris: Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas met in Paris on Wednesday with French National Assembly President Yael Braun-Pivet to discuss boosting bilateral relations, especially after France's recognition of the State of Palestine. They further addressed political developments, as well as updates on the ground in the occupied territories.

According to Qatar News Agency, Abbas stressed the importance of strengthening relations between the two countries and energizing further efforts to galvanize global backing to end the war in the Gaza Strip, in addition to stopping everything that would undermine the two-state solution. He further emphasized the need to bolster enduring peace foundations on the basis of international legitimacy resolutions.

In addition, Abbas affirmed that Palestine is committed to all overhaul programs which were pledged to the French-Saudi co-chairmanship of the international conference. Abbas arrived in Paris last Monday in a first official visit after France had officially recognized the State of Palestine on Sept. 22, 2025.
