Doha: Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi, and Secretary-General of the Association of Caribbean Community (CARICOM), Carla Barnett, held a videoconference on Wednesday to address the Iranian attacks targeting GCC countries. They discussed the repercussions of the escalation in the region, which poses a direct threat to both regional and international security and stability.
According to Qatar News Agency, Barnett expressed CARICOM’s condemnation of the Iranian attacks and affirmed its solidarity with the GCC countries. Albudaiwi praised the CARICOM member states’ position regarding the attacks, emphasizing the GCC’s strong condemnation of these violations, which infringe on the sovereignty of GCC countries and breach international laws and norms.
Albudaiwi highlighted the urgent need for an immediate cessation of hostilities and called for Iran’s compliance with UN Security Council Resolution 2817.
