Qatar and EU Discuss Strengthening Cooperation in Transport Sector

Doha: HE Minister of Transport Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdullah bin Mohammed Al-Thani has engaged in discussions with HE EU Commissioner for Sustainable Transport and Tourism Apostolos Tzitzikostas. During a phone conversation on Tuesday, the two officials explored avenues for cooperation and strategies to enhance bilateral relations between the State of Qatar and the European Union in the field of transport.

According to Qatar News Agency, the talks signify a step towards fostering stronger ties in sustainable transport initiatives. This dialogue comes amidst broader regional collaborations, as highlighted by HE UK Defence Secretary John Healey's comments during his visit to Doha. Healey expressed the United Kingdom's support for Qatar and its Gulf partners against regional threats.

In economic developments, data released by the Qatar Stock Exchange (QSE) revealed an increase in net profits for listed companies over the past year. The combined net profits reached QAR 53.3 billion, showing a growth of 3.11% compared to QAR 51.7 billion in 2024. This financial upturn reflects the resilience and growth of Qatar's economy.

Adding to Qatar's financial activities, the Qatar Central Bank (QCB) issued Government Ijara Sukuk with a value of QAR 3 billion on behalf of the Ministry of Finance. This move is part of the government's ongoing efforts to diversify funding sources and enhance financial stability.

The Ministry of Education and Higher Education (MoEHE) announced the opening of registration for evening centers for students enrolled in the adult education system. This initiative aims to provide educational opportunities for students pursuing home-based or parallel track studies.
