GCC and EU Officials Engage in Talks on Middle East Peace Efforts

Brussels: Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi discussed over the phone the developments in the Middle East with EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice-President of the European Commission Kaja Kallas. During the call, the two sides discussed international efforts to advance the peace process, as well as ways to enhance regional and international coordination to foster security and stability in the region.

According to Qatar News Agency, they also emphasized the need to continue supporting efforts to de-escalate the situation in the region, in the interest of lasting peace in the region and the world. The Secretary-General had previously discussed developments in the Middle East and efforts to de-escalate the situation with UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres.
