Israeli Attack on Iran an Uncalculated Escalation, Says Advisor to Prime Minister

Doha: Advisor to the Prime Minister and Official Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Al Ansari, addressed the recent diplomatic efforts led by His Excellency the Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs in response to the Israeli attack on Iran. Spokesperson Al Ansari highlighted the extensive outreach conducted by HE the Prime Minister, noting that from last Friday to Monday, numerous phone calls were made with counterparts, including Iranian Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr. Abbas Araghchi. In these discussions, HE the Prime Minister extended condolences to the families of the victims and stressed Qatar's commitment to work with both regional and international partners to urgently halt aggression against Iran.

According to Qatar News Agency, HE the Prime Minister engaged in conversations with high-level officials from various countries, such as UAE Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Egypt's Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr. Badr Abdelatty, Jordan's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr. Ayman Safadi, and Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al-Saud. The discussions also included officials from the UK, Spain, Italy, Canada, and Greece. During these talks, HE the Prime Minister condemned the repeated Israeli violations and called for unified efforts to de-escalate tensions through diplomacy.

The Spokesperson also noted that HE the Prime Minister hosted German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul in Doha, where they focused on regional developments and enhancing international peace and security. Additionally, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Dr. Mohammed bin Abdulaziz bin Saleh Al Khulaifi held a phone call with Rafael Grossi of the IAEA to discuss Israeli attacks on Iranian nuclear facilities, underlining the importance of bolstering nuclear site security.

In another significant development, Al Ansari reported the opening of the third Qatar-France Strategic Dialogue in Paris, co-chaired by HE the Prime Minister and French Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs Jean-Noel Barrot. The dialogue celebrated mutual appreciation for progress since HH the Amir's state visit to France, emphasizing new cooperation initiatives across multiple sectors. Discussions also addressed regional developments and challenges in the Gaza Strip.

Moreover, Minister of State for International Cooperation Maryam bint Ali bin Nasser Al Misnad met with Philippe Lazzarini of UNRWA to enhance collaboration between Qatar and the agency. Minister Al Misnad also met with Greek Deputy Foreign Minister Tasos Hadjivassiliou to discuss bilateral cooperation.
