Gaza Strip Health Sector Faces Collapse Amid Ongoing Conflict

Doha: Meanwhile, Al Raya newspaper reported that while the world is marking the World Health Day, the Gaza Strip remains without any health services. The daily argued that while millions of people across the globe suffer from the lack of this human right, the Gaza Strip is witnessing a complete collapse of its health sector due to the genocidal war waged by the Israeli occupation.

According to Qatar News Agency, this year's slogan "Healthy Beginnings, Hopeful Futures" no longer applies to the people of Gaza, who are suffering from the horrors of aggression, tragedies, fear, hunger, and deliberate killing. On World Health Day 2025, Palestinians face a tragic health reality in which medical and humanitarian needs are increasing at an unprecedented rate. The editorial highlighted that the right to health is still being denied to millions of Palestinians, as children, women, the elderly, and the sick in the Gaza Strip face the risk of death in the absence of the most basic components of health care. There is a critical depletion of medicines and medical supplies, and most hospitals have ceased operations due to the depletion of fuel.

Meanwhile, Al Watan newspaper covered Qatar's effective participation in securing the 2024 Paris Olympics, noting the Ministry of Interior and the Internal Security Force (Lekhwiya) also participated in securing a recent English Premier League match between Manchester City and Manchester United. This effort aims to exchange expertise and leverage the competence of Qatari security personnel, enhancing international cooperation and reflecting Qatar's position as a trusted international partner in the security field. The participation showcases the development of Qatari competencies in managing security operations according to the latest international standards.

For its part, the English-language newspaper The Peninsula highlighted the role the agricultural sector plays in supporting economic diversification and sustainable development in Qatar. Under the headline "Towards Food Security and Self-Reliance," the newspaper stated that the third National Development Strategy, launched in 2024, aims to develop sustainable agricultural technologies, enhance local production, and optimize resource utilization to achieve food security. It also highlighted initiatives and programs that support farmers, significantly contributing to increasing the quantity and quality of local agricultural products and enhancing their market competitiveness. The Qatar National Food Security Strategy 2030, launched in December of last year, aims for sustainable food security through guiding principles that include promoting healthy consumption habits, ensuring food security and quality, enhancing sustainability, adapting to climate change, and building effective partnerships.

It concluded that the strategy represents an important step in enhancing the State of Qatar's ability to overcome current and future challenges, as it seeks to increase agricultural land productivity by 50%, which will boost the production of red meat and fish by 30% and 80% respectively by 2030. It also seeks to raise the self-sufficiency rate in vegetables to 55% and achieve self-sufficiency in dairy products.
