Explosions Rock Kyiv as Ukraine Reports “Massive” Russian Strike

Kyiv: Ukrainian authorities announced early Thursday that the capital, Kyiv, had come under a "massive" Russian attack, as air defense systems engaged waves of missiles and drones targeting the city. Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko said the capital was facing a large-scale assault and confirmed that air defense forces were operating across multiple districts. He added that two people were injured in the eastern Dnipro district.

According to Qatar News Agency, powerful explosions were heard in central Kyiv, with eyewitnesses reporting that air defense units were intercepting incoming targets. Klitschko stated that a fire erupted on the roof of a five-story residential building in the Solomiansky district, while emergency services also received calls for medical assistance in the Desniansky and Shevchenkivskyi districts. Another fire was reported in a residential building in the Podilskyi district.

The Ukrainian Air Force said Russian missiles were striking Kyiv and several other regions across the country. The latest attack comes as Moscow intensifies its strikes on Kyiv in recent months, focusing heavily on energy infrastructure and transportation networks.
