Cairo: Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi discussed Tuesday with his Ugandan counterpart Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, currently visiting Egypt, the enhancement of bilateral relations in various fields.
According to Qatar News Agency, the two presidents witnessed the signing of a number of memoranda of understanding in the fields of water resources management, agricultural and food cooperation, investment, as well as mutual exemption from entry visas for holders of official passports, and cooperation to support the establishment of a Ugandan diplomatic institute.
In a joint press conference, the Egyptian President pointed out that an agreement was reached with his Ugandan counterpart to continue existing cooperation in the security field.
Views were also exchanged regarding the Nile River, where it was agreed that the optimal approach among Nile Basin countries should be based on the necessity of enhancing efforts to achieve mutual benefit, joint work to preserve and develop this vital resource, and cooperation in a manner that takes into account the interests of all, without causing harm, in accordance with international law.
He emphasized his country's complete rejection of unilateral actions in the Eastern Nile Basin.
