Cairo: Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty engaged in a phone conversation with Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam to discuss ongoing developments in Lebanon and the broader region. During the call, Abdelatty emphasized Egypt's commitment to safeguarding Lebanon's security and stability, expressing support for the Lebanese people and government. The Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs highlighted Egypt's backing for Lebanon's unity and stability, aiming to protect its security.
According to Qatar News Agency, Abdelatty reiterated Egypt's unwavering support for Lebanon across various regional and global platforms. He noted Egypt's communications with concerned parties to combat foreign interference in Lebanese affairs. These efforts include calls to end Israeli aggression, respect Lebanon's sovereignty and airspace, release Lebanese prisoners, and ensure Israeli withdrawal from occupied Lebanese territories, in line with international resolutions. The enforcement of Resolution 1701 without selectivity was also stressed by Abdelatty.
The Egyptian Foreign Minister underscored support for strengthening national Lebanese institutions to better serve the Lebanese people. Prime Minister Salam provided an overview of Lebanon's situation and highlighted the ongoing efforts by President General Joseph Aoun and the Lebanese government to maintain security and stability.
Furthermore, Salam extended gratitude to Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi for his supportive stance towards Lebanon's sovereignty and territorial integrity. He also expressed a desire to enhance economic and trade relations and support reconstruction initiatives.
