Doha: WhatsApp, the instant messaging platform owned by Meta, has introduced a new feature for iPhone users that enables them to share "Status" updates directly from other apps. The update is part of the latest beta release of the app (version 25.22.79).
According to Qatar News Agency, a site that tracks WhatsApp developments, the new feature allows users to post media, such as photos and videos, as Status updates via iOS's native sharing options. Whenever a user attempts to share media from any app on an iPhone, WhatsApp's "My Status" option will now appear consistently among the available sharing choices, regardless of the source app.
Previously, users had to manually select WhatsApp as the target app before sharing media as a Status update. With the new integration, users can also choose individual contacts or groups to share content with, alongside the option to post directly to their Status.
The update streamlines the sharing process, reducing friction and making it faster and easier for users to publish Status updates from third-party apps.
The feature is currently available in the latest iOS version of WhatsApp.
