Doha: In a series of scathing editorials, Qatari newspapers have voiced strong condemnation against the ongoing actions of Israeli occupation forces in Gaza and the West Bank, highlighting the severe humanitarian crisis and alleged war crimes. The editorials, published in leading newspapers Al-Raya and Al-Sharq, underscore the international community's rising discontent with Israel's policies.
According to Qatar News Agency, Al-Raya's editorial titled "Global Outrage Against Israeli Brutality" emphasized the dire situation in Gaza, where massacres and systematic oppression have persisted for nearly two years. The paper criticized the Israeli occupation for the killings, displacement, and deliberate starvation inflicted upon the Palestinian people, actions that have reportedly led the United Nations to declare a famine in Gaza at catastrophic levels. Al-Raya argued that the international community's awareness of these atrocities has grown, with global citizens pressuring their governments to respond firmly against what it described as an extremist Israeli government.
The editorial further accused Israel of targeting journalists and their families in an effort to suppress media coverage of the events in Gaza, with dozens of media professionals and their relatives reportedly killed. Al-Raya concluded by asserting that Israel's actions will not undermine the resilience of the Palestinian people or erase their cause, stressing the necessity for international censure and boycott of Israel as a rogue state.
Meanwhile, Al-Sharq's editorial, "Extermination in Gaza and Annexation in the West Bank," condemned the Israeli government's actions across the occupied territories. The paper highlighted crimes such as genocide, forced starvation, settler violence, and plans for further annexation of the West Bank, including a recent decision to construct 3,400 housing units. Al-Sharq argued that these actions aim to fragment Palestinian territories and hinder any potential for a two-state solution.
The editorial criticized the international community's lack of effective response, which it claimed has emboldened Israel to continue its actions. It stressed that mere statements and condemnations are insufficient, calling for urgent and decisive international intervention to halt Israel's systematic crimes and hold it accountable for decades of impunity.
