Web Summit Qatar 2026 Concludes an Exceptional Third Edition with Record Participation

Doha: Web Summit Qatar 2026 concluded on Wednesday after four days of impactful discussions, highlighting its significance as a global platform for decision-makers, entrepreneurs, investors, and thought leaders to collaborate on shaping the future of technology, innovation, and the digital economy.

According to Qatar News Agency, the event set a new record, attracting 30,274 participants from 127 countries, marking an 18% increase compared to the previous year. This year, the summit also hosted nearly 1,000 investors and 1,637 startups, with a notable 38% of these startups being founded by women.

HE Sheikh Jassim bin Mansour bin Jabor Al-Thani, Director of the Government Communications Office (GCO) and Chairman of the Permanent Web Summit Organizing Committee, emphasized the summit's role in driving Qatar's national development through technology and innovation. He noted that the event provides strategic opportunities for partnerships that facilitate the transition toward a knowledge-based economy, thereby enhancing Qatar's competitiveness on a regional and global scale.

Highlighting the strength of Qatar's entrepreneurial landscape, Sheikh Jassim remarked on the robust participation of startups, including Qatari companies, which underscores the maturity of the country's entrepreneurship ecosystem. This ecosystem is supported by enabling legal and regulatory frameworks, advanced digital infrastructure, and public-private collaboration, embodying the goals of Qatar National Vision 2030.

Paddy Cosgrave, Founder and CEO of Web Summit, expressed that Web Summit Qatar has quickly become one of the world's premier technology events, reflecting Qatar's ambition to lead in the technological arena. He also noted the increased investor interest, with a 27% rise in investor participation this year, demonstrating continued confidence in identifying future technology leaders.

The summit witnessed the signing of over 77 Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) between Qatari entities and major global technology companies, fostering innovation and entrepreneurship across the nation.

PITCH, the summit's flagship startup competition, sponsored by Jusour, concluded with Plantaform, an award-winning Canadian agri-tech company, emerging as the winner. The competition also featured UAE-based fashion brand Again, and GluxKind, a Canadian company specializing in AI-powered baby strollers, among the finalists.

The Startup Qatar pavilion experienced a strong turnout, bolstered by incentives announced by HE Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani. These incentives included USD 2 billion in new investments, a 10-year residency program for entrepreneurs and executives, and expedited company setup for summit attendees.

A Startup Showcase featured high-potential startups operating in Qatar, spanning sectors such as mobility, fintech, gaming and virtual reality, energy and sustainability, and AI solutions tailored for Arab audiences. This highlighted the diversity and depth of Qatar's innovation ecosystem.

As the largest and fastest-growing technology event in the region, the summit facilitated discussions on artificial intelligence, fintech, and the creative economy, emphasizing the role of advanced technologies in economic growth and the development of sustainable digital societies. It highlighted the importance of innovation in boosting emerging economies and the value of cross-border collaboration in accelerating digital transformation.

Government leaders, global technology executives, and startup founders from around the world participated in summit sessions, sharing insights on the future of artificial intelligence, the impact of emerging technologies on employment, and the role of policy in fostering innovation. These discussions established Web Summit Qatar as a crucial platform for knowledge exchange and networking in the global technology ecosystem.

The summit concluded with focused sessions and masterclasses, bringing together entrepreneurs, investors, and experts to explore digital solutions and investment opportunities across fintech, e-commerce, cybersecurity, and digital media. The high level of engagement underscored the event's reputation as a platform for partnerships and growth.

A session led by Noora Al Jaidah, a researcher at Qatar Environment and Energy Institute (QEERI) and founder of Hydra Bite, examined how AI can bolster Qatar's agriculture sector in addressing the challenges of desert climates. The session demonstrated how AI-driven tools can create sustainable agricultural systems.

In another session, industry leaders, including Mohammed Al Delaimi, explored the future of payments in the GCC, examining regional cooperation and digital infrastructure development in financial services.

The final day featured startups pitching their innovative solutions to international investors, showcasing the vibrant startup landscape in the region and Qatar's growing influence as an innovation hub.

Web Summit Qatar 2026 reaffirms Qatar's commitment to a knowledge-based economy and attracting global talent and investment, aligning with Qatar National Vision 2030. The outcomes of this edition reinforce the summit's role as a leading platform and its influence in establishing Qatar as a regional center for dialogue on technology and innovation.
