WAVA Board Holds 8th Meeting, Approves Key Development Initiatives

Doha: The Board of Directors of the West Asia Volleyball Association (WAVA) held its eighth meeting of 2025 via video conferencing, during which it issued a series of decisions aimed at enhancing sports activity in the region and developing the game across member states.

According to Qatar News Agency, the meeting was chaired by HE WAVA President Ali Ghanim Al Kuwari, who began the session by reviewing the key achievements made during the past period. He emphasized the importance of continuing joint efforts to develop volleyball, both in indoor courts and in beach volleyball, as part of the Federation's vision to advance the sport regionally.

Among the most notable decisions made by the Board was the lifting of the suspension on Kuwait Volleyball Club, following an in-depth study and comprehensive evaluation of the club's current situation. The Board also approved the organization of the first edition of the Women's Club Championship by the Kuwait Volleyball Federation, scheduled for December 2025, as part of efforts to support women's participation in sports and expand the base of players in the game.

The meeting also addressed several organizational and technical topics, including the ratification of the minutes of the seventh meeting, review of reports from specialized committees, and discussion of the Federation's future plans. Among the highlights was the third West Asia Beach Volleyball Tour (Men and Women), which will be held in the Lebanese capital, Beirut, in 2025.

The meeting also touched on preparations for organizing new tournaments during the second half of the current year, and the follow-up of correspondence received from national member federations, contributing to joint coordination and enhancing the effectiveness of programs and activities.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the Board emphasized the importance of strengthening cooperation among national federations in West Asia and intensifying joint efforts to elevate the technical and organizational level of the game, in line with regional and international goals and aspirations.
