New york: Major stock indices on Wall Street opened Tuesday's trading with mixed performance.

According to Qatar News Agency, the S and P 500 index rose by 15.8 points, or 0.25 percent, reaching 6,405.62 points. The Nasdaq Composite gained 108.1 points, or 0.51 percent, starting at 21,286.725 points. In contrast, the Dow Jones Industrial Average edged down by 3.8 points, or 0.01 percent, to open at 44,833.74 points.
