Strait of hormuz: The US military announced Sunday that it had shot down two Iranian drones, indicating they posed a threat to international maritime traffic in the strategic Strait of Hormuz.
According to Qatar News Agency, the US Central Command (CENTCOM) stated in a post on X that US forces in the Middle East intercepted two Iranian one-way attack drones that endangered international shipping lanes in the Strait of Hormuz. The command emphasized that American forces are prepared and equipped to continue defending against Iranian provocations.
The US military had previously reported on Saturday the downing of four other Iranian attack drones aimed at the Strait of Hormuz. CENTCOM noted that these drones represented a significant threat to civilian maritime navigation in the area. In response, US forces conducted strikes on Iranian coastal surveillance radar installations located in Goruk and Qeshm Island as a defensive measure against potential further assaults.
