UNRWA: Children in Gaza Live Lives Marked by War and Destruction

Doha: The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) stated today that the lives of children in the Gaza Strip, who make up nearly half of the population, are marked by war and destruction.

According to Qatar News Agency, the UN agency highlighted that children constitute half of Gaza's population, and their lives are heavily impacted by the ongoing conflict and devastation. UNRWA detailed that children in Gaza spend their days outside of the educational environment, face repeated displacement, and struggle with inadequate nutrition.

The agency stressed the pressing necessity for a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip for the benefit of the children and to foster a hopeful future for the region.

At the end of June, the Director-General of the World Health Organization, Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, mentioned in a press briefing that approximately 112 Palestinian children are hospitalized in Gaza daily for malnutrition treatment since the start of the year, attributed to the enduring Israeli blockade.

Since March 2, Israel has imposed strict controls on Gaza's border crossings, significantly limiting the entry of aid and supply trucks. The current allowance falls short, as Gaza requires at least 500 trucks per day to fulfill basic necessities.
