Dublin: The Advisor to the Prime Minister and Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs highlighted the recent receipt of the Tipperary International Peace Award by HE Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani last Tuesday during a ceremony held in the Republic of Ireland.
According to Qatar News Agency, the significance of this international award is underscored by the fact that it has been previously awarded to notable figures such as former US President Bill Clinton, the late Soviet President Mikhail Gorbachev, and former UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan. The award recognizes the roles played by the State of Qatar, under the leadership of its Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, in peace negotiations across regions including Gaza, Afghanistan, Ukraine, and Sudan.
In his acceptance speech, the Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs expressed his gratitude towards the wise leadership of HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani and reiterated Qatar's commitment to advancing peace efforts. He also met with Irish President Michael D. Higgins and Deputy Prime Minister Simon Harris, and visited the Irish National War Memorial Gardens.
Al Ansari noted a phone call on Wednesday between the Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Antonio Tajani, Italy's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, where they discussed regional developments, particularly in Gaza, and efforts to reach an agreement with Iran on its nuclear program.
On Tuesday, discussions with Egyptian Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly focused on bilateral relations and joint mediation efforts to end the war in Gaza. Political consultations were also held on Monday in Sofia between Qatar and Bulgaria, led by HE Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Sultan bin Saad Al Muraikhi and Bulgarian Deputy Minister Maria Anguelieva.
Additionally, in Doha, a round of political consultations took place between Qatar and the European Union's External Action Service, led by Sultan bin Saad Al Muraikhi and Olof Skoog. On Friday, discussions in Venezuela between HE President Nicolas Maduro and HE Minister of State Dr. Mohammed bin Abdulaziz bin Saleh Al Khulaifi covered regional developments in the Middle East and Latin America.
