UN Calls on Israel to Respect the Disengagement Agreement with Syria

Doha: Spokesperson for the UN Secretary-General Stephane Dujarric expressed concern over Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's visit to an occupied area in southern Syria. "I think this very public visit is concerning, to say the least. We call on Israel to respect the 1974 Disengagement Agreement," Dujarric said in a press conference.

According to Qatar News Agency, Dujarric emphasized that UN Resolution 2799 calls for the full sovereignty, unity, independence, and territorial integrity of Syria. This issue was also raised during the recent meeting between the Deputy Special Envoy of the UN Secretary-General to Syria, Najat Rochdi, and Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad al-Shaibani.
