Ankara: Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Saturday condemned Israel's breach of the ceasefire deal and the air raids launched on Lebanon. In a statement, the ministry affirmed that such attacks once again laid bare Israel's flagrant disregard for international law and its relentless threat to the security and stability of the region.
According to Qatar News Agency, the ministry added that the international community must act in a concerted manner against Israel's efforts aimed at creating an enduring conflict in the region. The condemnation came after Israel's fighter jets launched a series of airstrikes on wide swathes of southern Lebanon on Friday, with one airstrike targeting a building in a Beirut suburb, resulting in civilian casualties.
The ceasefire deal, forged on November 27, 2024, mandated the withdrawal of Israeli troops from southern Lebanon's border villages within sixty days. Despite Lebanon's government agreeing to extend the deadline to February 18, the Israeli military remained in five points, exacerbating tensions in the region.
