Turkish President Affirms Nation’s Constant Readiness to Combat Wildfires

Ankara: Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan affirmed on Sunday that Turkiye remains in a state of constant alert to combat wildfires, deploying 27 aircraft, 105 helicopters, 25,000 forestry workers, and 132,000 volunteers to protect the nation's forests.

According to Qatar News Agency, in a post on the social media platform X, President Erdogan emphasized that Turkiye is making significant efforts to extinguish forest fires both from the air and on the ground, describing the country's forests as the "green homeland." "We are now on alert day and night to protect our green homeland with 27 planes, 105 helicopters, nearly 6,000 land vehicles, 25,000 heroic forestry workers, and 132,000 volunteers," he stated.

The President noted that a total of 3,062 fires have been extinguished across Turkiye since the beginning of the summer, and expressed hope for continued success in firefighting efforts throughout the country. Over the past two days, wildfires have broken out in several provinces, most notably in Bursa, Kahramanmaras, Mersin, Usak, and Antalya.

Firefighting teams have largely brought the blazes under control in Mersin, Usak, Bursa, and Antalya, while aerial and ground operations continue in other areas amid full readiness to respond to any new outbreaks.
