Tennis: Sinner Through to Second Round of US Open

New york: World No. 1 Jannik Sinner of Italy advanced to the second round of the US Open, the final Grand Slam tournament of the year. The defending champion secured his spot after defeating Czech player Vit Kopriva in straight sets 6-1, 6-1, 6-2 in the first round on the hard courts of New York.

According to Qatar News Agency, Sinner will now face Australian Alexei Popyrin in the second round, after Popyrin overcame Finland's Emil Ruusuvuori in straight sets 6-3, 6-4, 7-6.
