Sudan’s Army Chief Appoints New General Staff

Khartoum: Head of Sudan's Sovereign Council Abdel Fattah Al Burhan, who is also commander of the armed forces, has issued decisions to form a new general staff.

According to Qatar News Agency, Lt Gen Yasser Al Atta has been appointed chief of staff, replacing Mohamed Othman Al Hussein, who has retired. Other appointments include Lt Gen Abdel Khair Abdullah Nasser Darjam as deputy chief of staff for administration, and Lt Gen Mohamed Ali Ahmed Sabir as head of military intelligence.

Lt Gen Motasim Abbas Al Tom Ahmed was named deputy chief of staff for operations. The decisions also included the promotion of a number of senior officers and the retirement of others.
