Shura Council Discusses Labour Law Amendments and Investment Proposals in Weekly Session

Doha: The Shura Council held its regular weekly session on Monday under the chairmanship of HE Speaker of the Shura Council Hassan bin Abdullah Al Ghanim. At the beginning of the session, the Shura Council praised the success achieved by the State of Qatar in hosting the FIFA Arab Cup 2025 tournament, highlighting Qatar's capabilities in organizing events.

According to Qatar News Agency, the Council emphasized Qatar's efforts under HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani's guidance to successfully host the event, which fostered Arab unity. The Council acknowledged the significant media and public interest, appreciating the efforts of the organizing committee and local institutions in achieving organizational success.

Following this, HE Secretary-General of the Shura Council Nayef bin Mohammed Al Mahmoud presented the agenda, and the Council approved the minutes of its previous session. The Council reviewed a draft law amending provisions of the Labour Law promulgated by Law No. 14 of 2004, deciding to refer it to the Social Affairs, Labour and Housing Committee for further study and reporting.

The Shura Council also considered the report from the Social Affairs, Labour and Housing Committee concerning proposals on conditions for persons with disabilities and made an appropriate decision. Additionally, the Council reviewed a government statement on supporting national and foreign investment proposals, referring it to the Financial and Economic Affairs Committee for further analysis.

The session included a review of HE Hamad bin Abdulla Al Mulla's participation in an Arab Parliament delegation visit to the United Arab Emirates from Sept. 22-24. The Council also discussed the participation of its delegation, led by HE Ahmad bin Hitmi Al Hitmi, in the Asian Parliamentary Assembly's Standing Committee on Social and Cultural Affairs meeting in Moscow in October.
