Shoman Foundation Unveils Top Winners of 2025 Children’s Literature Prize

Amman: Abdul Hameed Shoman Foundation (AHSF) has unveiled winners of the top three places for the 2025 Children's Literature Prize. The prize was devoted to contests in the short story category, particularly in the genre of travel literature, aimed at nine-plus-year-old children.

According to Qatar News Agency, the first-place winner was Ruqaya Abdullah Said Al Badi from Oman, while the second-place winner was Abdelhakim Ahmed from Egypt. The third-place award went to Sherine Sami Fahmy Rizk, also from Egypt, AHSF stated in a recent announcement.

CEO of AHSF, Valentina Qassisieh, stated that travel literature holds special significance, particularly when aimed at children and young readers, as it helps broaden their horizons and knowledge by familiarizing them with diverse cultures and peoples worldwide. This type of literature takes children on a journey to novel places and a variety of landscapes, which assists in advancing their creative capabilities and honing their linguistic skills, inspiring them to learn from others, and offering a glimpse of different personal perspectives, as well as the value of empathy and understanding others.

The scientific curators of this prize have affirmed that incorporating travel literature into a child's library profoundly enriches children's imagination. It offers them an opportunity to explore the world, achieve individual discoveries, and gain the courage to be independent, moving beyond borders or relying solely on electronic devices and digital communication means.
