Islamabad: The Pakistani army announced Tuesday that seven of its soldiers were killed, and various others were injured in an attack involving an improvised explosive device targeting a military convoy in the Balochistan province in the southwest of the country.
According to Qatar News Agency, in a statement, the army said the attack was carried out by armed militants and targeted a vehicle transporting security forces near the area of Mach in the Kachhi District. The vehicle was part of a convoy en route to carry out a security operation.
No group has yet claimed responsibility for the attack.
Since the beginning of the year, more than 200 people, most of them security personnel, have been killed in attacks carried out by armed groups in Balochistan and the neighboring Khyber Pakhtunkhwa region.
