Nicosia: A second earthquake, measuring 5 on the Richter scale, struck Cyprus Wednesday evening.
According to Qatar News Agency, the Cyprus Geological Survey stated in a press release that the epicenter was located approximately 25 kilometers northeast of the tourist resort of Paphos.
Local sources reported that the earthquake caused panic among residents. Panagiotis Lyassides, spokesman for the Civil Protection, said that no significant damage has been reported so far.
Cyprus experienced a similar earthquake Wednesday morning, measuring 5.3 on the Richter scale, which was felt by residents throughout the island and as far away as the coasts of Turkiye, Palestine, and Lebanon.
