Phuket: A 18-year-old Russian female tourist was killed and 21 others injured in a violent collision between a tourist boat and a small fishing vessel in Thai waters off the Phi Phi Islands near Phuket on Sunday morning, the Russian Consulate in Thailand has reported to Novosti.

According to Qatar News Agency, the information on the other injured remains under verification. The incident occurred in the morning when the tourist boat was carrying 52 foreign tourists, including Russians, along with three Thai crew members.

The collision tore through half of the boat's front section, resulting in 22 casualties, including 19 foreign tourists and three Thai crew members. The injured were initially hospitalized at Phi Phi Island Hospital, before some were transferred to hospitals in Phuket for further care.

Meanwhile, Thai authorities continue their investigation to determine the circumstances and causes of the incident.
