Russia Terminates Military-Technical Cooperation Agreement with Germany

Doha: Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin signed an order today terminating the military-technical cooperation agreement between his country and Germany. The Russian authorities explained, in a document published on the country's official legal information portal, that in accordance with Article 37 of the Federal Law on International Treaties of the Russian Federation, the agreement between the Government of the Russian Federation and the Government of the Federal Republic of Germany on military-technical cooperation, signed in Moscow on June 14, 1996, is being terminated. They noted that the Russian Foreign Ministry will notify the German side of this decision.

According to Qatar News Agency, the military-technical cooperation agreement between Moscow and Berlin was concluded in 1996 for a period of five years. This document is automatically renewed after its expiration unless either party expresses a desire to terminate it.
