QRI’s Precision Rehabilitation Program Revolutionizes Patient Care

Doha: Dr. Hanadi Khamis Al Hamad, the Medical Director of Rumailah Hospital, recently detailed the significant achievements of the Qatar Rehabilitation Institute (QRI) in an interview with QNA. She emphasized the institute's community-based rehabilitation services, which involve a multidisciplinary team visiting patients' homes to provide rehabilitation sessions, particularly for the elderly.

According to Qatar News Agency, Dr. Hanadi highlighted the launch of the Precision Rehabilitation Program, a pioneering initiative in Qatar that allows patients to monitor their health progress. This program is the first of its kind in the country, offering customized treatments for patients recovering from injuries, surgeries, or managing chronic conditions. The initiative uses advanced technologies, such as robotics, to deliver personalized therapeutic interventions, thereby improving patient outcomes.

Dr. Hanadi also noted that the QRI caters to geriatric patients needing post-illness or post-surgery rehabilitation, and pediatric patients receive day rehabilitation and long-term care at Al Maha Center. The institute is committed to high-quality training and specialized research in partnership with Qatar University and Weill Cornell Medicine-Qatar, focusing on rehabilitation and disease prevention to enhance patient care services.

She expressed pride in QRI's international accreditation by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF), highlighting that it is the first facility under Hamad Medical Corporation to achieve this recognition in rehabilitation. This accreditation underscores the institute's focus on innovation and continuous development in treatment and rehabilitation, significantly improving patient life quality in Qatar.

Dr. Hanadi mentioned the launch of the Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Residency Program, marking a significant milestone for the institute. This program reflects the institute's dedication to clinical excellence and innovation in rehabilitation services.

Discussing rehabilitation challenges, she underscored the family's vital role in supporting patient recovery and adherence to treatment plans. Dr. Hanadi urged the public to engage in physical activity and manage risk factors like smoking, diabetes, hypertension, and obesity to prevent conditions like strokes.

She assured the public that QRI provides high-quality rehabilitation services for all age groups without discrimination, focusing on supporting patients' recovery and community reintegration through a qualified team of professionals.

Dr. Hanadi concluded by noting that rehabilitation services are available across Hamad Medical Corporation hospitals, with day programs for inpatients and specialized outpatient clinics at several hospitals, including Al Wakra Hospital and Hazm Mebaireek General Hospital.
