Doha: HE President of the Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC) and First Vice President of the Association of National Olympic Committees (ANOC), Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al-Thani, met separately with key figures from various Asian Olympic Committees on the sidelines of the 2025 FINA World Aquatics Championships.
According to Qatar News Agency, the meetings included discussions with HRH Prince Jigyel Ugyen Wangchuck, President of the Bhutanese Olympic Committee; Seong Min Ryu, President of the Korean Olympic and Sports Committee; and Gordon Tang Yigang, Vice President of the Cambodian Olympic Committee. The talks focused on enhancing sports cooperation between Qatar and its Bhutanese, Korean, and Cambodian counterparts.
The discussions addressed critical sports issues in Asia, including the development of sports capabilities, athlete support, and the exchange of technical and administrative expertise. Additionally, the meetings reviewed preparations for upcoming major events such as the Nagoya 2026 and Doha 2030 Asian Games, and the 2029 Asian Youth Games in Cambodia.
These meetings are part of an ongoing series of bilateral engagements by Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al-Thani with leaders of the Asian Olympic Movement. The primary aim is to strengthen cooperation and exchange expertise between National Olympic Committees, supporting the advancement of Asian sports at both regional and international levels.
