QFSW Celebrates International Day of Families with Community Event at Qatar Mall

Doha: The Qatar Foundation for Social Work (QFSW), along with its affiliated centers, organized a community event to celebrate the International Day of Families, observed annually on May 15. The event, held at Qatar Mall, attracted significant public participation.

According to Qatar News Agency, the initiative included educational, cultural, and interactive activities for all community members, highlighting the role of families as a key element in community building and social cohesion. The event featured interactive and kinetic contests focused on familial values, with prizes for children and adults.

The Social Development Center (NAMA) offered an educational segment, while the Shafallah Center for Persons with Disabilities presented a storytelling experience for children through an interactive stage session. This session combined direct dialogue with auditory and visual effects, creating an inclusive environment for children.

The Dreama Center for Empowerment of Orphans showcased its mission to empower orphaned children and promote their community integration. This was followed by a reading of the story of Prophet Joseph, involving children in an interactive session to answer questions related to the narrative.

The event concluded with the Interactive Family Tree activity, where children and parents imprinted their hands on a tree-shaped display, symbolizing cohesion and communal support. This gesture highlighted the role of family and community in embracing orphans and reinforcing inclusion.

The Ehsan Center for Empowerment and Elderly Care participated by raising awareness of senior citizens' rights through its Thakher Program, which promotes dignity and societal appreciation for the elderly. The Aman Center also contributed by hosting interactive contests to raise awareness of its mandate in safeguarding families and individuals.

Al Noor Center for the Blind presented a theatrical performance titled 'Qatar, the House of Love', showcasing the integration of visually impaired individuals into expressive arts. The Behavioral Healthcare Center staged the play 'The Young Leader', focusing on inculcating leadership values in children.

The event highlighted QFSW and its centers' commitment to enhancing societal awareness of family affairs and their role in development. It demonstrated institutional collaboration in delivering programs aimed at improving the quality of life for individuals and families, contributing to the Qatar National Vision 2030's social pillar. The event emphasized the importance of building a cohesive society that upholds family solidarity and promotes the active participation of all societal segments in sustainable development.
