Doha: Qatar Civil Aviation Authority (QCAA) is hosting the Joint ICAO Europe and North Atlantic (EUR/NAT) and Middle East (MID) Workshop on the Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) Radio Frequency Interference. The workshop, organized by the ICAO EUR/NAT and MID Regional Offices, is being held in Doha, Qatar, from November 18 to 20, 2025.
According to Qatar News Agency, Mohamed bin Faleh Al Hajri, In Charge of Managing QCAA, delivered the welcome address during the opening session. He expressed his gratitude to the ICAO Regional Offices, the organizers, and the participating delegations for their involvement and contributions. Al Hajri emphasized the importance of this workshop in bringing together States and stakeholders from the EUR/NAT and MID Regions to tackle the growing threat of GNSS radio frequency interference to aviation safety and efficiency.
Al Hajri highlighted the critical need for active participation to foster experience exchange, enhance cooperation, and build sustainable partnerships that promote the resilience of satellite-based navigation systems. He reiterated Qatar's dedication to improving aviation safety and efficiency through collaboration with ICAO and regional partners.
Hosting this workshop, Al Hajri noted, underscores the collaborative efforts to strengthen the robustness and reliability of satellite-based navigation systems, forming a crucial element in ensuring the safety and efficiency of international air navigation. The workshop aims to nurture regional dialogue on the operational impact of GNSS radio frequency interference, share insights among participating States and stakeholders, and explore advancements in reporting mechanisms, mitigation strategies, and resilience of satellite-based navigation systems.
Furthermore, the initiative seeks to enhance cooperation between the EUR/NAT and MID Regions to protect the infrastructure and integrity of GNSS-based navigation systems.
