Doha: Qatari newspapers have underscored several key issues in their recent editorials, with particular focus on Qatar's involvement in the 23rd Shangri-La Dialogue in Singapore. This participation highlights Qatar's achievements in tourism and the success of its Hajj Mission. The editorials also addressed regional tension-easing efforts.
According to Qatar News Agency, Al-Sharq newspaper emphasized the significance of Qatar's participation, led by HE Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Defense Affairs Sheikh Saoud bin Abdulrahman bin Hassan Al-Thani, in the Shangri-La Dialogue. The event, organized by the International Institute for Strategic Studies, focused on "Asia's Maritime Security Disorder." Al-Sharq noted that Qatar's prominent international role and commitment to security coordination are vital for promoting global peace and security.
The newspaper highlighted the Shangri-La Dialogue's importance as a major government-led security summit in Asia, annually organized by the International Institute for Strategic Studies. This year's summit drew representatives from 41 countries, including 22 ministerial-level delegates. Al-Sharq detailed Sheikh Saoud's participation in the third plenary session and a ministerial roundtable with 34 other defense and security ministers.
Al-Sharq concluded that Sheikh Saoud's active engagement in the dialogue reflects Qatar's dedication to addressing complex security challenges, enhancing defense diplomacy, and facilitating discussions on geopolitical tensions and regional crises. These efforts aim to bolster security and stability and advance shared interests.
In a separate editorial, Al-Raya newspaper discussed Qatar's burgeoning tourism sector, which has evolved into a fully integrated industry. This transformation aligns with a national vision to diversify the economy and elevate Qatar's global tourism standing. Al-Raya attributed this growth to investments in infrastructure and tourism facilities, such as Hamad International Airport and modern transportation systems, which ensure a seamless visitor experience.
Al-Raya highlighted the diverse tourism options available in Qatar, including beaches, deserts, traditional markets, museums, and shopping centers. The newspaper also pointed out Qatar's vibrant cultural and sporting scene, bolstered by hosting major events and exhibitions. Qatar's strategic use of the FIFA World Cup 2022 legacy to support sustainable tourism growth and enhance competitiveness was also noted.
