Qatar’s Ongoing Efforts in International Peace and Support for Palestinian Cause Highlighted in Newspaper Editorials

Doha: Qatari newspapers, in their Sunday editorials, addressed important topics including the State of Qatar's continuous efforts in regional and international forums to promote international peace and security, particularly in the Arab region. They also emphasized Qatar's unwavering support for the Palestinian cause and the Palestinian people's rights.

According to Qatar News Agency, the newspapers highlighted the participation of HE Speaker of the Shura Council Hassan bin Abdullah Al Ghanim at the 38th Conference of the Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union (AIPU) held in Algiers. During the conference, His Excellency urged parliaments worldwide to join the AIPU in creating a unified global parliamentary front that represents the will of free peoples and coordinates international positions and initiatives.

The editorials also covered the celebration of World Press Freedom Day, observed annually on May 3. This day is dedicated to upholding the essential principles of press freedom, evaluating press freedom worldwide, defending media independence, and honoring journalists who have died while performing their duties.

Locally, the newspapers reported on the opening of the Judicial Services Center of the Supreme Judicial Council in Al Khor. This initiative is part of the Council's plan to expand judicial services and improve service delivery to the public.

Al-Sharq newspaper, in its editorial, emphasized Qatar's dedication to enhancing Arab solidarity and cooperation in regional and international forums. The newspaper reaffirmed Qatar's support for the Palestinian cause and the Palestinian people's quest for their legitimate rights.

The participation of HE Speaker of the Shura Council at the AIPU Conference in Algiers was noted by Al-Sharq, where His Excellency called for a global parliamentary alliance to express the will of free peoples and coordinate international actions.

Al-Raya newspaper focused on World Press Freedom Day, highlighting the challenges faced by journalists in Gaza. The newspaper condemned the targeted attacks on journalists by Israeli forces, which hinder their ability to report truthfully. Al-Raya called for immediate international action to address these violations of press freedom and human rights.
