Qatar’s National Strategy 2025-2030 Emphasizes Social Empowerment and Environmental Leadership

Doha: Qatari newspapers have recently highlighted significant national initiatives aimed at enhancing social and environmental frameworks within the country. For its part, Al-Watan newspaper shed light on the launch of the Ministry of Social Development and Family's National Strategy 2025-2030, inaugurated this past Sunday by HE Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani. The strategy carries the theme "From Care to Empowerment."

According to Qatar News Agency, the new strategy aims to reinforce family cohesion, achieve social justice, and raise the overall standard of living for all members of society. It encompasses a range of programs such as family counseling and support, parental education awareness, and the promotion of mental well-being, all of which contribute to building a stable family environment capable of adapting to challenges. The strategy also places particular emphasis on the economic and social empowerment of Qatari women and on supporting vulnerable groups.

Meanwhile, The Peninsula, in its English-language editorial titled "Setting New Benchmarks," affirmed that Qatar continued to advance its environmental leadership through a comprehensive push toward sustainability. This drive is marked by tangible progress in recycling, waste-to-resource conversion, and the restoration of urban ecosystems. The editorial highlighted that through a blend of advanced infrastructure, digital transformation, and widespread tree-planting initiatives, Qatar is translating its national vision into real-world actions with measurable impact - setting a regional benchmark for circular economy practices and environmental resilience.

One of the most notable achievements, according to the paper, is the transformation of the waste management sector. In 2024 alone, over 835,000 tons of waste were processed in Qatar. From this, more than 40,000 megawatt-hours of energy were generated, and 27,000 tons of organic compost were produced - underscoring the success of the waste-to-resource model. Additionally, 277,000 tons of recyclable materials were recovered, reflecting the country's efficient and circular approach to waste processing.

The editorial concluded by asserting that these combined initiatives embody Qatar's proactive and holistic approach to sustainability - one that integrates technological innovation and private sector participation to build a greener, more resilient future.
