Qatar’s Economic Advancements Highlighted in Ministerial Review

Doha: The Minister of Commerce has detailed a series of successful initiatives aimed at bolstering Qatar's economic diversity and fostering partnerships between the public and private sectors. These efforts include significant support for small and medium enterprises, advancements in digital transformation, and the integration of sustainable development practices across various sectors.

According to Qatar News Agency, the Ministry's achievements align with Qatar's Sustainable Development Goals and aim for balanced economic growth in line with QNV2030 and NDS3. The Minister emphasized the importance of enhancing the industrial sector's productivity and competitiveness, noting its substantial contribution of approximately QAR 27 billion to the GDP in the first half of 2025. The industrial sector's cumulative investment exceeded QAR 270 billion, with a notable increase in the number of domestically manufactured products.

Non-hydrocarbon industrial exports reached around QAR 29.8 billion by the third quarter of 2025. Meanwhile, the readiness of 30 factories was evaluated using the Smart Industry Readiness Index. In an effort to uphold food safety and quality, the Ministry adopted the Qatari Technical Regulation on food product shelf life, aligning with modern global standards.

The Ministry also launched the National Product e-platform to foster fair competition and enhance national product quality. In terms of business environment improvements, efforts were made to align with investor and entrepreneur aspirations, contributing to Qatar's notable achievements in the Global Competitiveness Ranking and Business Efficiency Index.

The public-private partnership (PPP) initiatives were bolstered with the launch of an electronic platform showcasing the PPP program. The West Bay Beaches and Al Safliya Island Development Project was launched under this model, aspiring to transform these areas into premier tourist destinations. Furthermore, tenders for private school construction and operation were issued, alongside the exploration of 12 new PPP project opportunities.

The Ministry's efforts extended to organizing the Public 'Private Sector Dialogue Forum in 2025, facilitating communication between sectors and fostering a healthier business environment. A new classification for SMEs was also introduced to better integrate these enterprises into the national economy, further showcasing Qatar's commitment to economic progress and innovation.
