Doha: The Consumer Price Index (CPI) in Qatar reached 112.39 points in December 2025, reflecting a 1.44 percent increase from November 2025 and a 1.95 percent rise compared to December 2024.
According to Qatar News Agency, the index measures inflation across 12 main groups of consumer goods, involving a total of 737 goods and services. Using the 2018 base year, the index relies on data from the Household Income and Expenditure Survey of 2017-2018.
Data from the National Planning Council showed that the monthly increase stemmed from higher prices in eight groups. Notably, the "recreation and culture" group saw the highest rise at 6.84 percent. Other increases were observed in "miscellaneous goods and services" at 1.87 percent, "restaurants and hotels" at 1.71 percent, "clothing and footwear" at 0.89 percent, "transport" at 0.71 percent, "communication" at 0.35 percent, "food and beverages" at 0.19 percent, and "housing, water, electricity" at 0.15 percent.
The "education" group experienced a slight decrease of 0.02 percent, while the "tobacco," "furniture and household equipment," and "health" groups remained unchanged.
On an annual basis, eight groups contributed to the CPI increase. The "miscellaneous goods and services" group rose by 18.68 percent, followed by "clothing and footwear" at 3.28 percent, "education" at 2.04 percent, "housing, water, electricity" at 1.50 percent, "recreation and culture" at 1.44 percent, "furniture and household equipment" at 1.39 percent, "food and beverages" at 0.63 percent, and "communication" at 0.17 percent.
Conversely, declines were noted in the "health" group, down 0.75 percent, "restaurants and hotels" at 0.65 percent, and "transport" at 0.42 percent, with the "tobacco" group showing no change.
Excluding the "housing, water, electricity, gas, and other fuels" group, the CPI for December 2025 was 117.68 points, marking a 1.71 percent increase from November 2025 and a 2.05 percent rise from December 2024.
