Doha: The Qatari newspapers in their editorials on Friday highlighted several topics at the local level, foremost among them the phone calls received by HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, expressing solidarity with the State of Qatar and condemning the Iranian attack on Al-Udeid Air Base. The attack was widely denounced as a violation of Qatar's sovereignty, airspace, international law, and the United Nations Charter.
According to Qatar News Agency, the newspapers also shed light on Qatar's ongoing efforts to strengthen its sustainable and advanced economy, driven by coordinated and steadily progressing plans across various sectors. They commended the successes achieved in national efforts to localize industry and promote local products.
In another local matter, the newspapers focused on social development as the second pillar of Qatar National Vision 2030, emphasizing the state's attention to this area due to its role in achieving sustainable growth.
Al-Sharq newspaper noted in its editorial the continued flow of messages of solidarity with Qatar from various countries, especially from brotherly and friendly nations. HH the Amir received two phone calls yesterday - one from HE President of the Republic of Turkiye Recep Tayyip Erdogan and another from HE President of the Republic of Iraq Dr. Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid. Both leaders expressed their countries' strong solidarity with Qatar and their condemnation of the Iranian attack on Al-Udeid Air Base, describing it as a violation of Qatar's sovereignty, airspace, international law, and the United Nations Charter.
In the same context, Al-Sharq pointed out that HE Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani also received two calls - one from HE Prime Minister of the Republic of Sudan, Dr. Kamil Idris, and the other from HE Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Cyprus, Constantinos Kombos.
Al-Sharq affirmed that Qatar's leadership remains grateful for the sentiments expressed by world leaders and for the solidarity shown by sisterly and friendly nations with Qatar and its people.
The paper concluded its editorial by stating that recent developments have reaffirmed the wisdom of Qatar's leadership and its commitment to the principles of good neighborliness and the promotion of regional peace and stability. This commitment is reflected in Qatar's support for regional and international efforts to de-escalate tensions and resolve disputes through diplomatic means - most notably the role played by HH the Amir in facilitating the ceasefire agreement between Iran and Israel. This role has earned Qatar praise, appreciation, and respect across the globe.
Meanwhile, Al-Raya newspaper highlighted in its editorial a meeting held by HE Minister of Commerce and Industry, Sheikh Faisal bin Thani bin Faisal Al-Thani, with a number of Qatari manufacturers. The meeting underscored the ministry's commitment to monitoring the industrial sector and supporting industrial investors. Discussions addressed the main challenges facing factory owners and explored ways to enhance the competitiveness and growth of the industrial sector.
The newspaper noted that Qatar continues to build its sustainable and advanced economy across multiple fronts, with economic plans progressing in a synchronized trajectory across all sectors. The paper emphasized the achievements of national efforts in localizing industry and encouraging domestic products.
Qatar provided support for local products - from production stages to retail availability - resulting in an increase in the volume, quality, and efficiency of Qatari goods. The government's initiatives to support local products remained steady, aiming to encourage broader participation, boost local production, and move toward self-sufficiency while reducing reliance on imports.
In this context, Al-Raya pointed out that data from the Ministry of Commerce and Industry shows growth in the number of national products, as well as an increase in the number of factories recorded in the industrial sector.
The editorial concluded by noting that the state recently launched several initiatives to create investment and economic opportunities benefiting the industrial sector. The past few years witnessed industrial development in Qatar, driving a national industrial renaissance. Building a sustainable economy, the newspaper stressed, hinges on a vibrant industrial sector that meets local needs while expanding into global markets.
