Qatari Newspapers Highlight Support for Syria Amid Israeli Aggression

Doha: Qatari newspapers on Friday underscored in their editorials Qatar's unwavering support for Syria in light of the recent Israeli attacks, emphasizing the vital importance of Arab and regional solidarity to safeguard Syria's sovereignty and reinforce regional stability. The dailies highlighted the joint statement issued by the foreign ministers of 11 countries, including Qatar, which strongly condemned the repeated Israeli aggression and reaffirmed their steadfast support for Syria's unity and security.

According to Qatar News Agency, the newspapers praised Qatar's proactive role in providing both political and humanitarian support to Syria, along with its broader contributions to international mediation efforts. Doha, the newspapers noted, remains committed to promoting regional peace and security through dialogue and diplomacy and to supporting peaceful conflict resolution efforts across the region.

In its editorial titled "A Unified Regional Will to Confront Israeli Aggression," Al-Sharq stressed that the collective position reflected in the joint ministerial statement signed by Qatar, Jordan, the UAE, Bahrain, Turkiye, Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Oman, Kuwait, Lebanon, and Egypt embodies a strong and cohesive political will to confront Israel's reckless and destabilizing policies, which pose a serious threat to the region. The paper argued that this unified statement, which recognizes Syria's security and stability as integral to broader regional stability, may mark a turning point in collective regional action, paving the way for stronger cooperation to counter Israeli violations and confront the occupation government's provocative behavior, which continues to fuel violence and regional tension.

Al-Sharq concluded by reaffirming that the State of Qatar, which believes in intensifying efforts to consolidate civil peace in Syria through dialogue and peaceful means, will remain at the forefront of nations advocating this collective approach. Qatar will continue to stand in full solidarity with all sisterly nations, including Syria, in any measures they take to protect their sovereignty and national security.

For its part, Al-Watan warned that the Israeli attacks across the region, including those targeting Syria, go beyond the fragmentation of a single Arab country. Rather, they seek to plunge the entire Middle East into chaos, weakening its collective strength and neutralizing its ability to respond to Israeli threats. In its editorial titled "A Barbaric Display of Force," the paper described the ongoing brutal assaults, whether in Gaza and the occupied Palestinian territories or in Lebanon and Syria, as both a ruthless show of military might and a flagrant disregard for international laws and norms.

Al-Watan concluded by warning that the true target of Israeli aggression is not just southern Lebanon, parts of Syria, or other neighboring territories, but the entire region. The paper stressed the need for a unified and decisive response, asserting that Israel's crimes must not go unpunished. It argued that Tel Aviv cannot be allowed to position itself as a dominant regional power or to unilaterally reshape the geopolitical order in pursuit of its narrow interests and hegemonic ambitions.
