Qatari Newspapers Highlight Amir’s Spain Visit and Economic Progress

Doha: Qatari newspapers on Monday focused on the visit of HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani to Spain at the invitation of HM King Felipe VI and HM Queen Letizia. His Highness attended a dinner banquet in honor of the heads of state participating in the 4th International Conference on Financing for Development (FFD4), organized by the United Nations in Sevilla. The visit underscores HH the Amir's commitment to enhancing Qatar-Spain relations and advancing cooperation in various areas for mutual benefit.

According to Qatar News Agency, the editorials emphasized Qatar's progress in economic diversification through a comprehensive action plan that has attracted international investment, fostering sustainable growth. The newspapers also highlighted Qatar's dedication to promoting sports as a tool for national development and its efforts to maintain its status as a leading supporter of sports regionally and internationally.

Al-Sharq newspaper reported that the Amir's visit to Spain reflected a strong focus on deepening bilateral ties, particularly in cultural, educational, and security fields. The meeting between HH the Amir and HM King Felipe VI at the Royal Palace in Seville discussed enhancing international cooperation for development financing and strengthening bilateral relations amid regional and global developments.

Al-Sharq highlighted the commitment shared by Qatar and Spain to support sustainable development goals, demonstrated by Qatar hosting the Fourth World Summit for Social Development and Spain hosting the FFD4 Conference. The strategic partnership between the two countries continues to grow, especially in economic, commercial, cultural, sports, and political fields, driven by the leadership of HH the Amir and HM King Felipe VI.

In its editorial, Al-Watan underscored Qatar's strides in economic diversification, resulting in significant foreign direct investments from China and Japan totaling over $1.4 billion last year. This investment has generated more than 600 jobs in strategic sectors like automotive, consumer electronics, business services, and information technology.

Al-Watan noted that the Qatar Investment Promotion Agency, in collaboration with Qatar Free Zones Authority, conducted promotional tours in Asian markets, including China and Japan, to showcase Qatar's investment opportunities and strengthen ties with international investors and partners. The paper concluded by emphasizing Qatar's promising opportunities in strategic sectors, enhancing its reputation as a regional business hub and fostering an innovative and technologically advanced environment.
