Qatari Newspapers Focus on National Service Training and Security Initiatives

Doha: Qatari newspapers highlighted in their Tuesday editorials several topics that emerged on the local scene, most notably the launch of the second national service recruits training program, which began on Monday and will continue until December 16. The aim of the program is to enhance the readiness of Qatari recruits and augment their technical and mechanical proficiency, contributing to supporting the sustainable development journey in alignment with Qatar National Vision 2030.

According to Qatar News Agency, the newspapers also discussed the Ministry of Endowments (Awqaf) and Islamic Affairs' keenness to attract Qataris to the positions of preacher, imam, and muezzin, and the great efforts it is making in this field, in cooperation with many state institutions, which spare no effort in discovering Qatari talents capable of working in these important jobs.

In addition, the papers touched on the initiative launched by the Ministry of Social Development and Family on Monday aimed at strengthening ethical values within Qatari families and promoting value-based upbringing.

For its part, Al-Raya newspaper said in its editorial that the State of Qatar, which leads globally in security and peace indicators, always seeks to maintain its high position by training and developing security personnel in order to preserve its security and stability, especially as the country is about to host international events that require security vigilance. Qatar is constantly reviewing its security preparations in order to deal professionally with any emergency situation.

In this context, the newspaper said HE Minister of Interior and Commander of the Internal Security Force (Lekhwiya), Sheikh Khalifa bin Hamad bin Khalifa Al-Thani, witnessed part of the field training of the Watan Exercise 2025, which showcases the cooperation between military, security, and civil agencies in handling a variety of situations and incidents.

Upon touring the operations room at the National Command Centre (NCC), HE Sheikh Khalifa was briefed on the mechanism to manage emergencies and strengthen coordination among the participating entities, enhancing field alertness and supporting the national response system, Al-Raya pointed out, which will ensure Qatar's preparedness to secure all its events and maintain its own security and that of its guests. Al-Raya said Qatar impressed the world with its professionalism in producing the best edition in the history of the FIFA World Cup, as it did not involve any serious security incident. Qatar believes that success does not come from nothing, but rather from perseverance, good preparation, sound planning and optimal implementation, which is what it is based on through the Watan Exercise.

Al-Raya noted the great efforts made by the Ministry of Interior to preserve lives and property and consolidate social peace by following a comprehensive strategy that has maintained security stability and reduced crime rates, as well as the measures taken in combating the scourge of drugs and protecting society from its dangers, and standing firmly against cyber-attacks, electronic threats and hacking, which have become the new generation of wars. In this context, the state is working to harness technology to enhance security and stability, which ensures the achievement of comprehensive development.

Concluding its editorial, Al-Raya said the Ministry of Interior continuously works to improve its security performance through a comprehensive and proactive strategy, as well as by conducting security exercises to assess its readiness. The State is also keen on exchanging security expertise, which has made Qatar a global security benchmark, having contributed to securing major events such as the Olympics, and will also participate in securing the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

In turn, Al-Watan newspaper said the second national service recruits training program by the Ministry of Municipality, in collaboration with the National Service Academy, which began on Monday and will continue until December 16, aims is to enhance the readiness of Qatari recruits and augment their technical and mechanical proficiency, contributing to supporting the sustainable development journey in alignment with Qatar National Vision 2030.

The newspaper stated that the training program is part of implementing the collaboration between the ministry and the Ministry of Defense, which reflects the integration of roles between government entities and their joint support for building the capabilities of Qatari youth and qualifying them to serve the nation with high efficiency.

The training program is poised to qualify 60 recruits of national service for taking on the mantle of specialized mechanisms under the superintendence of a team of professional engineers in managing mechanical equipment, the newspaper pointed out. It also aims to conduct training programs in tire, mechanics, and maintenance workshops, and in the operation of heavy vehicles. Trainees will also receive instruction on lubricant properties and their applications with the aim to strengthen operational readiness and enable the recruits to competently handle mechanical equipment and systems.

Concluding its editorial, Al-Watan said that all of this is aimed at preparing qualified national cadres who possess the necessary technical and field skills, which contribute to supporting the national readiness system and consolidating the principles of discipline, teamwork, and raising human capabilities to serve the nation in various fields, and which benefits the trainees by providing them with many skills.
