Moscow: HE Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani participated today in the 24th session of the Council of Heads of Government of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), held in the Russian capital. His Excellency emphasized Qatar's commitment to the principles of solidarity and cooperation foundational to the SCO, highlighting its role in fostering dialogue and cooperation in security, economy, and cultural exchange.
According to Qatar News Agency, His Excellency stated that Qatar's vision aligns with the principles of the Shanghai Charter, focusing on mutual trust, benefit, and respect for cultural diversity. He underscored Qatar's commitment to sustainable development and comprehensive security as the basis for national prosperity and stability.
HE the Prime Minister emphasized Qatar's ongoing implementation of its National Vision 2030, which targets balanced development through economic diversification, human potential investment, and environmental protection. He noted that Qatar views the SCO as a strategic partner in achieving development and regional stability, expressing hope for further partnership development.
His Excellency highlighted the need for collective efforts to tackle global challenges such as economic slowdown, humanitarian crises, and threats to peace and security. He reiterated Qatar's commitment to joint action within the SCO on development cooperation and security consolidation.
The Prime Minister stressed Qatar's role as a mediator in resolving regional and international conflicts and expressed satisfaction in participating in the meeting, thanking Russia for hosting. He also appreciated the SCO Secretary-General's efforts in advancing joint work, expressing confidence in the meeting's outcomes.
The meeting, spanning two days, focuses on enhancing cooperation in trade, economy, investment, and social development among member states, alongside discussions on issues of common interest.
