QatarEnergy and Petronas Ink 20-Year LNG Supply Deal

Doha: QatarEnergy has entered into a 20-year Sales and Purchase Agreement (SPA) with Petronas to supply Malaysia with two million tons per annum (MTPA) of liquefied natural gas (LNG) starting from 2028.

According to Qatar News Agency, the agreement was formalized by HE Minister of State for Energy Affairs, President and CEO of QatarEnergy Eng. Saad bin Sherida Al Kaabi, and President and Group CEO of Petronas YM Tan Sri Tengku Muhammad Taufik Tengku Kamadjaja Aziz. The signing took place during a special ceremony in Doha, held as part of the 21st International Conference and Exhibition on Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG2026).

This landmark agreement represents the first long-term LNG SPA between QatarEnergy and Petronas, signaling a significant step in their collaborative efforts. It underscores a mutual commitment to a sustainable energy future and reflects the trust and confidence shared by the two organizations, further strengthening bilateral cooperation.

HE Eng. Saad bin Sherida Al Kaabi expressed QatarEnergy's satisfaction in entering this new LNG SPA with Petronas, emphasizing the company's dedication to supporting Malaysia's growing energy needs and its global customer base. The agreement is a testament to QatarEnergy's ongoing efforts to foster global partnerships, advance cleaner energy solutions, and contribute to the economic development goals of key international markets.
